Pixellation Issues in Converting 720p to 1080p ?
hi,
On converting HDV 720p to 1080p using Compressor…the image is looking alright on the computer monitor.
But I need to show the film on a large screen for theatrical.
Will the pixels show up… or the image quality suffer noticeably on a larger display ?
What about Instant HD plugin ??

No…I’m downloading the trial version and checking …
but logically 720 is 720*1280
and 1080 is 1080*1920so changing from 720p to 1080p is going to induce pixellation, how is Compressor going to change that ??

Have you tried doing the conversion in Compressor yet?
Have you tried taking your 720p timeline, putting in a 1080 timeline, scaling and render?
You are not upconverting, you are cross converting. It’s a much better process than going sd to hd.

Compressor can do the cross-conversion just fine, but you should do some short tests, and you should view on at least a 23″ Apple Cinema Display with your video output set to “Cinema display full screen”
An MXO or a real HD monitor would be even better.
When you do your Compressor tests, turn on the frame controls and boost antialiasing to say 50 or so. It will take a lot longer but it works fine.
