  • Pixelation on Final Cut Pro dvx100b

I’ve used my panasonic dvx100b before but it has been months. I recently have been working with a dvcpro hd, and today a problem arose where I needed to use my dvx100b. I took some footage, which saves to a fire store, then imported it to final cut. The footage is coming up very pixelated. Any idea why the image isn’t crisp?

It’s not just final cut distorting my images either. I have opened it in quicktime player and it looks the same. Fire store? Camera setting? Help!

Yeah, and thats definitely not it though. I exported the footage, like I did with my previous works, and it looks nothing like what it did before. When I exported it before I could make a dvd, put in the television, and it would look good. This does not.

Shift-Apple-3 will take a screen shot. Then you need to post it up somewhere- such as flickr or whatever and share a link to the photo.

I’d like to pick up this thread where it left off, because I am experiencing a pixelation problem that matches Jamie M’s description.

I was shooting a play on the DVX100B in 24P mode, and for capture and export to QT settings I tried to follow Noah K’s instructions as outlined in his DVD on the subject.

I’d appreciate if you could take a look at these four screenshots and tell me if there is anything to be done. You may want to view them in slideshow mode for better resolution. In the last shot with the red shroud, the effect is particularly evident. Is it just that this camera doesn’t deal well with high-contrast situations, or is there a setting I need to change?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for your input, Dave. I can believe that my problem is simply that DV isn’t cut out for the kinds of images I’m shooting. I’ll try to stick to bedouins from now on…

FYI, before I received your response I had tried posting this troubleshooting query in a new thread, so if you want to add anything to the conversation that’s going on there, feel free!

    Thanks much.
