Pixel Format
Posted by Vegasarian on June 6, 2006 at 3:33 pmCan anyone explain to me and ‘my gang’ how it is that 4×3 and 16×9 have the same pixel format (720×576)?.Are the pixels different size/shape?.

June 6, 2006 at 4:26 pmAh! Just noticed pixel aspect ratio is 1.0926 for PAL DV and 1.4568 for PAL DV Widescreen. Do I sound like a nerd???.

June 6, 2006 at 4:39 pmThe pixels ARE a different shape…DV pixels have a .9091 aspect ratio; they’re a little bit taller than they are wide. HDV pixels have a 1.33 aspect ratio; they are short and wide.
But that’s different than your horizontal and vertical pixel count. All flavors of HDV have more pixels than 720×576.
