  • pixel aspect interpretation settings?

Posted by Tristan Summers on July 21, 2010 at 1:17 pm

    Hello.
This musty be covered somewhere but I am yet to find it.

I am wondering if it is possible to change an interpretation file somewhere, as at the moment, Final Cut assumes a 1024 or 768 renders to be CCIR PAL pixels AND anamorphic, and I am sick of having to correct each and every file.

Maybe somebody has a correct interpretation setting somewhere? Maybe even one that works with after effects new correct pixel ratios?

Ideally, I would like ALL files to be left alone i.e. set to square pixels so I can update them if necessary, as it seems FCP can’t manage to get it right.

Perhaps there is a plug in that actually reads the metadata in the quicktime file?

    cheers

    Tristan

[Tristan Summers] “and I am sick of having to correct each and every file. “

FCP doesn’t like to work with ‘non-standard’ frame sizes and you couldn’t layoff 1024×768 to tape, so FCP assumes you are working in PAL widescreen.

You can change all of your clips in a batch by selecting them in the browser, fine the Pixel Aspect column and right click and choose, square. You can do the same for anamorphic, right click and choose ‘no’.
