i’ve searched through the posts here, but found nothing that could satisfy me in my problem. here it is..

i need to make a pipe with some junctions. the pipe is going to be like the one you can see on some roadster or a muscle car. you know, that triple exhaust pipe, which can be seen going from under the hood outward and then backward..
so i need a pipe, which has some “branches” “growing out” of it.

i tried using sweepNurbs, but it doesn’t let me do the Y-shaped junctions. am i doing something wrong?
or stitching and sewing polygons is the only way?

Yes you are going to have to weld some points.
here is a free tutorial. You will have to sign up though.

oh, thank you so much! that was exactly what i needed!

by the way, maybe you know a method of effective bending of pipes? i tired to manually rotate/move certain sections, but the result i got wasn’t very nice(

At my last job I did a lot of pipes so i build a small library of joints and then I used sweep nurbs to create the “tween” pieces because its so fast to model. You can however use the bend deformer to get nice round bends but it takes some time with the knife tool sometimes to get even subdivision on the corners.
