Picture is missing in Explorer Preview
Posted by John Perez on January 20, 2014 at 1:01 amI’m getting a blank green screen when I preview files from the explorer window. I can hear the audio, but there’s no picture. Also Shots are becoming orphans for no apparent reason. Any ideas how to fix this?
As always thanks so much to you guys…Johnny In Orlando

Yea, that’s an important question because if these are new files you may just be missing a codec but if these worked before and just stopped working, then it points to possible changes you’ve made to your PC lately which is much harder to solve.

January 20, 2014 at 7:41 pmExactly why i asked John…If they are new, its a missing codec issue.

January 20, 2014 at 11:58 pmYes, I was viewing these files in explorer window then the trouble started (if that’s what you mean by “new”.) I’m running V10

January 21, 2014 at 12:12 amAlso this: When I first open Vegas the explorer window is still open from the previous session. When I click on the files at this point they play perfectly fine, but when I load the project that’s when I get either a green screen or a black screen, both with sound intact. Anymore ideas?

January 21, 2014 at 3:07 amWhen you are in Vegas’s explorer window and select a file, you can usually so the audio and video properties just beneath the window. Some like frame size 1920 x 1080 and you also see some audio information. If the video portion is blank it usually means Vegas does not have a CODEC to display it.
What are these files you are trying to view? FRAPS? MP4/AVCHD? Have you ever been able to view these files in Vegas Explorer before? i.e. not Windows explorer.
My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 12 (x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6
