October 8, 2008 at 4:51 pmThe EX3 has a new enhanced view finder/onboard monitor that YES does have a switch (mirror image) to flip the image. I don’t believe this flips any other outputs for monitoring, however I have tried it as yet.
Good Luck

Though it’d be nice to flip the recorded image and all the outputs, at least this makes acquiring the picture that much less of a headache.
Thanks for the reply Micheal!

October 8, 2008 at 5:38 pmIf that is important to you then purchase or rent an adapter that flips the image before the camera. However this feature could come at a cost as it adds more optics along the way. It is too easy to flip it in the edit, and if you have a mount for an external monitor you can flip it.
Good Luck

I’ve been looking at the Cinemek adapter because it has no moving parts, and has less light loss because it doesn’t have extra optics to flip the image.
It’s between that and the Letus. I own a Redrock M2, but I’m having serious issues with that and the EX1!

October 8, 2008 at 6:22 pmI purchase the M-2 as well, it was a nightmare and so was dealing with the company. I gave them every opportunity to properly resolve my issues and they simply don’t have any customer service to speak of. If I where you I would pack that M-2 up and send it back if you haven’t already. I purchased it directly from RRM at NAB 08 and they knew it didn’t work properly with the EX1 (that they had there without the M-2 mounted to it) and sold it to me knowing it was for my EX1 anyway. FYI I just left a message at Letus asking about their return policy before, I need a 30 day return policy with satisfaction guaranteed before I will purchase. I’m sure it won’t be long before a single chip is introduced and perhaps it will come from Canon, check this out, it shoots HD video too

October 8, 2008 at 6:29 pmHey Michael,
There’s some film samples already online from the EOS 5D if you’re interested:

October 8, 2008 at 6:48 pmYou did notice I didn’t bring up the M-2 in the thread.
Is this footage from the D5 mark II because it isn’t out yet.
Great footage, what do you think will single chip cameras replace the 3 chip units soon?Good Luck

The other day I downloaded the whole 5D movie from the Canon web site. I should have kept it because I just went back to the link and the movie isn’t available at the moment because:
“Due to high demand of video clips we have exceeded our download capacity.”
But here is the original link anyway because you can still get frame grabs from the movie.

I really don’t know what to make of this emerging technology. I talked to the owner of a local still camera shop the other day and he called this new capability of the EOS 5D “blasphemy.” So it’s going to take awhile for content creators to accept that the line between still cameras and motion picture cameras is getting very blurry, indeed.
As far as single sensors are concerned, I guess as improvement in chip technology moves forward it may become less of an issue as to whether or not you own a 3 chip or a single large chip camera. The RED ONE is a perfect example of a single CMOS camera that has stellar picture quality with incredibly shallow DOF because the sensor is so big. Time will tell.

October 8, 2008 at 10:06 pmSo what lens adapter do you prefer, then? Are you familiar with the Cinemek G35? Thoughts?
