I’ve just put the 3.0.4.2 pI3 and 3.0.7.1 pIRender (Windows only) updates back into the AutoUpdate info.

If anybody has problems installing these updates, or if you need to activate after updating, please let me know!

A few people reported problems, but most people seem to have been fine with the updates, and I couldn’t reproduce any of the issues.

The pIRender update in particular is quite important, as it restores hardware acceleration to anybody who had to turn it off (ATI cards mainly).

    Alan,
I updated to these versions when they appeared previously and did not experience any problems during the upgrade process (I noted this in your original thread). Naturally they do not appear as an update option now. Should I be concerned? Thanks.

    Bob

No, I just reposted the exact same versions as before, so you already have the latest.

I know you’re frustrated, but saying “it bombed” doesn’t really help.

When exactly did it crash? (list the steps you took before it did)

What crash message did you get (if any)? Was it a particleIllusion-specific message, or a Windows generic message?

What version of Windows are you running?

Were you running in an account that has admin priviledges?

What version of particleIllusion were you running before?

Are you saying that it needs a new activation code and you’re unable to get one?

Please provide as much information as possible, or I’ll never be able to fix this. Like I said originally, it works for most people, and I was unable to duplicate the problems.

It may be more helpful to send your answer to support at wondertouch dot com instead of posting here.

I can check the pI3 ver under Help, but where do I go to check the pIRender ver? I invoked the check updates and nothing came up. Does that mean my pIRender is also up to date?

    Thanks

    Yes, you’re up-to-date.

pIRender has a little “?” button in the lower left of the dialog.

    Hi Alan,

I have PI 3.0.4.1 ans PI render 3.0.7.

I tried to install the new updates and at the end of the process I received an error message:

File Damaged (is another copy already running?)

I tried again after a clean boot and got the same result.

If I recall correctly when I installed PI on my new Windows 7 Pro 64bit machine I had to change a setting in Windows or add PI to a menu inwindows to allow the thing to run. Could this be the problem?

All help appreciated. – Reber Clark

In theory there’s no difference between theory and practice – but in practice there is.

I’m getting the same error message as Reber Clark.

please email support at wondertouch dot com.

Include as much detail as possible: the exact error message, when it displayed, what version you were running before the update, did you see the message immediately after downloading the update, what version of Windows are you using, are you running with administrator privileges, etc.

Basically anything you can think of that will help me.

    Alan.
