    Best File format coming OUT of Photoshop to due a live trace in Illustrator when the Photoshop Image is on a transparent Background.

    It really doesn’t matter. If you want the best result, you will always end up needing to trace using the pen tool. Otherwise you will only get an amateurish end result no matter how you slice it.

    I typically use PNG; the format is very clean with respect to hard edges unlike JPEG and is usaully quite small (byte-wise). Hope this helps!
