My G5 just died, and I would appreciate guidance on replacing it.
I’m a fine artist, and use Photoshop to doctor photos of my work.
On rare occasion, I work with After Effects.
I hate the concept of Creative Cloud, and hope to avoid it.
    So the questions are:
    1. Is there a decent non-cloud Photoshop that will run
    on the newer Macs?
    2. Holy cow, Which computer? I’m considering iMac or mini.
Or is it necessary to go with a Mac Pro?
Thanks- and I’ll probably be bombarding you with dumb
questions as things progress (or digress).

Adobe used to still sell cs6 but I think now creative cloud for $10 a month is your only option if you want photoshop. Affinity photo is pretty capable and is the next best thing to photoshop. From memory I think it sells for about $50.

I’m not familiar with the mac mini. The Mac Pro would be a pretty silly purchase at this point I think. It’s horribly expensive for it’s performance as it was pricey to start with and hasn’t been updated in years. Any iMac will do the job. Of course a good pc will the do the same job faster and for less money.

Thanks for getting back, Dominic. I went on and ordered an iMac.
The price of a basic Mac Pro is shocking.
