Photoshop Menus look lo-res in SD widescreen
I have been creating my layered menus in Photoshop to get the most design possibilities. With my current DVD project, in SD widescreen, the menus look somewhat low-res, with the type especially not looking sharp. The entire project was shot and edited in HDV, compressed to SD to for the final authoring.
The Photoshop files were set up as:
1440 x 1080
72ppi
Using the preset: HDV 1080/DVCPOR HD 720 (1.33)
The aspect ratio looks correct on the screen and on burned DVDs,no distortion. Just not as sharp as the actual DVD footage.What’s wrong?

I recreated the menu using your 853×480 specs and at 300ppi. The menu is a little shy left to right in my screen. And, unfortunately it doesn’t appear any sharper. Am I missing something?

resize to 720×480 before leaving Photoshop. And don’t expect miracles in Standard Definition…

Also ppi should always be 72 for video graphics.
You have to take all the guess work of the DVDSP handling of the image.
