Recently, I had the need to create some write-on text using a font that contained very detail letter formation. It was no picnic in AE due to the difficulty zooming in to the compostion window then zooming out and repositioning the text and indside the comp window then rezooming while trying to KEEP THE MASK POSITIONED TO THE PREVIOUS LETTERING. Wow, it was not fun!!

I may have to do this again and was wondering if the text and mask could be created in Photoshop first then imported to AE to finish the effect. Has anyone done this? I cannot see any reason why this would not work.

I am in search of some feedback and would very much appreciate comments.

    Much thanks for all input.

I’m having a hard time visualizing exactly what it is you’re talking about. Could you perhaps post a sample video or some pictures?

It sounds like there may be a very simple solution to your problem, but I want to make sure I understand the problem first =)
