Hi, I am using photoshop 7.0 on this computer for the first time, its the same version that i use at work all the time but some things are not acting right here and i can’t figure it out!

Well what i am doing is pasting a copied image from a .tif into an empty document that i created and it pastes it into the BACKGROUND which is LOCKED. And it won’t let me create a new layer, infact all of my layer menu options are turned off and i can’t seem to get them to work. I can’t unlock the backgound layer either amd every time i paste a new copied image from the .tif it will paste it into the background layer instead of creating a new one.

Why is it doing this and what setting do i have to change to turn it off?

If anybody knows how to fix this issue please help!

    Thanks

Sae as before.. you are working in 16 bit… change image mode to 8 bit
