photoshop layer as mask?
So here’s what I’ve got going on now. Please advise on a better way to do this.
I want three independent, animated panels to act as masks over a piece of video – much like a comic book. Normally I would think about adding masks to the video layer in AE, but I want grunged/frayed edges.
So I downloaded some nice brushes for photoshop and created my edge.
The in AE I set up the following for one panel test:
1. GrungeFrame (a thin fuzzy border) – Mode> Overlay – Parent> Rectangle
2. Rectangle (this would normally be the mask)
3. VideoFootage – TrkMat> AlphaMatte “Rectangle”
This works nice for one panel, but obviously I can’t add more to the same video footage with this method, I assume you only can have one layer for your TrkMat. So there must be another solution. I think pre-composing and adding 3 720p footage layers would kill performance?
Any help appreciated.
