    Hi
I’ve created a duotone image in photoshop 7 and i can save it as a psd or eps to preserve the pantone colors i have picked.

however when i try to import/place the file into an Illustrator 9 document it comes up with this error message:

“The file “c:/yada yada.psd” is in a format which can not be placed”

And i can’t even import an eps file.

Has anyone ever had a similar problem? and does anyone know of a way around this. It is important to keep the pantone information.

Is there a way in illustrator 9 to place a grayscale psd or similar file and then assign the pantone colours within illustrator 9 to that image object.

    cheers
    Adam

Ilustrator CS2 is only able to place the .eps, since it cannot place a .psd when it is duotone.

Look into updating your software, Illustrator 9 was not one of my least favorite as it crashed often or had printing problems with transparency.

You should be able to place a grayscale and colroize it. Test to make sure it seperates accurately, as it has been a while since I colorized a tif.
