  • Photos and Vegas 6.0d – Shaking Lines Despite Reduce Interlace Flicker

I tried to use photos as title background for my videos (DV-AVI). But the results are not very good. I does not depend on the render format. Even if I use Reduce Interlace Flicker the lines of those photos are shaking very much. So I cannot use them. Is there no way to do this better within Vegas?

Very fine lines will cause this. Try to eliminate the fine lines. A slight blur can help with this. Also, if the “photos” were snapshots from video, make sure it’s deinterlaced.

Render your still sequence out as progressive.

To blur seems to be the only way. But of course it degrades the picture. Best results I got with FX for blur and then with a FX for sharpen.

Rendering it out as progressive as recommended by vegasarian does not solve the problem since the picture is part of a longer video. I cannot render the whole video as progressive. I tried to render the photo only out as progressive and then to put this back into the normal video when edditing – did not make any change. Perhaps I did something wrong.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Had similar problems in the past. First I set the picture properties to ‘reduce interlace flicker’ then under the job properties set the render quality to ‘best’ then set de-interlace method to ‘blend fields’ and left motion blur as ‘gaussian’. This fixed all my problems but with the trade off being slightly longer render times. Hope it works for you.
