I’m trying to create a photo montage.

I have all my pictures in photoshop elements albums. This way it’s very easy to tag and add pictures that I want to include in a montage.

I can drag the pictures from elements into Sony’s video timeline, but the pictures do not get rotated according to the EXIF orientation information from the camera. So I end up with a lot of portrait pics showing up 90 degrees out.

I can go into the properties of each one and rotate them individually, but thought there has to be a better way of doing this.

Has anyone found a better way of importing pictures into the timeline so that they appear in the correct orientation?

    Thanks

Vegasaur (it requires Pro version of Vegas) contains Auto Rotate Digital Photos command for that

I use IrfanView (it’s free) to rotate my images before I bring them into Vegas.
Save them in PNG format if you don’t want to overwrite the originals.

WOW!! This is exactly what I’m looking for!!
Unfortunately, I don’t have Vegas Pro. Isn’t there something for Vegas Movie Studio that does something similar?

I don’t want to have to rotate them before bringing them into Vegas Movie Studio. After all, except for Windows Explorer, every other program I am using is able to recognize orientation the way they are.

Otherwise, I may just make a simple montage in Photoshop Elements and then import the montage video into Movie Studio to polish it up with effects and music. Not my preferred method, but beats having to rotate each picture!!
