hey I’m working up the old masked smear effect. having trouble getting only a selection to smear off. do i need to do this using an alpha matte layer? I am wanting to have regions stretch off and connect to another element off screen. any thoughts? thx

Mask your thing, precomp it, then apply smear to the precomp.
