perspective view of acube to plane frontview
Posted by Ronny Traufeller on January 10, 2012 at 2:01 pmhey!
i am getting an isometric view of o cube, what i need is all visible sides as a plane rectengular composition for example, does somebody
know a good clean way to do this? something like cornerpin but in the other direction…thanks,

thanks!
i think i should add the following information, what i got is actually
isometric picture out of a 3d software(arranged cubes). and i need to kind of slice and remap it into rectengular plane shapes, to save two additional render steps.doin this in After effects would save a lot time.
thanks,

January 10, 2012 at 10:29 pmthanks for your patience!
okay, i will get a picture or sequence wich looks similar to that
lets take the red cube from the bottom for example, what i need is a plane version of the sides.
like this
this is needed to remap it on the same objects build in real per projection(the arrangment with the cubes). sounds strange but i try to get rid of a extra renderprosess where i do this step in the 3d software.
so slicing it in after effects and de-streching the shapes, like i thought a reversed corner pin workflow.
uiuiui
may sound like a bad strategy but its not i think.
thanks!

January 11, 2012 at 7:42 amAs Dave mentioned, and I did before ( thread)the easiest way is to re-build the cubes in 3d space in AE. It’s quite simple since all you have are cubes. You can then select each side, precompose them leaving the attributes in the main comp and then opening each precomp and replacing the solid inside with whatever texture you need.

January 11, 2012 at 12:47 pmhey,
i made a big step when it comes to transform it into plane shapes,
i use distord-> transform. the skew option helps to align the vanashing axes horizontal and vertical. and finally use scale to bring back the original proportions. and then crop it.bit messi but for me okay …

January 11, 2012 at 2:36 pmYou can also use a square solid, precompose leaving all attributes and then apply Corner Pin to the precomp. This way you can open the precomp and have a undistorted view of the sides of your cubes. If you want to work in the undistorted view and see how it affects the main comp (Corner Pin distorted precomps) you can lock the viewer for the main com and open a new comp viewer for the precomp by double clicking on it in the Project window and then arranging this one to appear side by side with the locked main comp window.

i definatly should write clearer descriptions.
i already do what you discribed! works great! but also need the opposite workflow.
the thing is that i DONT want to create the isometric views with after effects, i get isometric pictures from an 3d app. so i always start with an already perspectived picture wich needs to be flatten.
but to be unist isometric sources with these skrew transform brings me plenty of steps further.

You want RE:Map from RE:Vision FX [link].
It has an “Unproject” or reverse-corner pin mode. You define the four points of the plane, and it will stretch them back out to fit your comp.
If I’m understanding your question correctly, it’s exactly what you’re looking for.

i didnt had the chance to test it jet but sounds like the tool
i am looking for!not even that, it also has some uv conversion skills between 3d app and after effects. so in may case it opens some new possebilities!
