Trying to set level change points on the timeline’s audio tracks, but the pen tool turns into the regular arrow (actually appears on tl tracks as a cross, up and across). Even when I set mix points with pen tool in the Viewer, they don’t carry over to tl.

    The audio is .aif.

Any insights would be much appreciated.

Hi Bob…Are you viewing the Clip Overlays? If you are, the arrow will change to the pen when you get close to the keyframes.

A Clip Overlay is black line on video clips or red line on audio that are superimposed over the clip on the timeline. Clip Overlays are selected by toggling the control on the bottom left of the timeline or by hitting option “w” on the keyboard.

It sort of looks like a jagged stock market graph David. As said, with timeline overlays active, you can keyframe audio levels or opacity and scaling directly on the timeline. Also, holding the option key while using the selection tool (arrow) will turn the arrow into a pen when near a timeline level line. Saves time.

Thanks Rick and Les. It’s the client’s machine, back in his hands right now, but I’ve saved your answer and will try it as soon as I get the laptop in here again.
