  • PCI-E Y splitter Supplier to power a GTX285 and a 5770?

Okay, I now have the GTX285 card and am trying to install it into a new 12core mac. The 2 23″ACD’s are being driven by a 5770 card.

Problem, there are only 2 PCI-e power supply plugs on the mother board and I need three as the GTX need 2. I’ve looked all over for the proper splitter but there doesn’t seem to be one available. The GTX cards need the larger white plug and on the mother board side, the smaller black PCI-e plug. I can find plenty with one large white and 2 small black, I need the opposite. Other than wiring up one myself does anyone have a supplier for this Y cable?

Someone suggested taking power from the second superdrive. What adaptor would that be?

Thanks and apologies for asking so many questions.

There should be a piggyback second power connector in the upper compartment that would be used to run a second optical drive. With some adaptation, you might be able to tap into that and fish the cable down into the PCIe group. May not be that straightforward with full-length cards.
