Passing thru a pupil
Hello,
Somewhat new to AE and wondering if someone can help me. I am creating an effect where the camera passes thru the pupil of an eye as we see historical figures come to life, in this case Martin Luther King Jr. I want to start with the eye glowing and then as the glow dissolves the image of MLK appears in the iris. I was able to use a lens flare to create a great looking glow on the eye layer, but when I use a mask to open the pupil so that the layer underneath is revealed the lens flare goes away. I also tried popping out the pupil in Photoshop and had the same issue. What i’d like to see is the lens flare glowing on top of the MLK layer so that as the glow goes away the image is revealed. Any help would be appreciated.

Apply the lens flare to a black solid, set to Add mode, on top of the layer stack?
