  • particles with trails?

    hello all,

i am somewhat new to motion, so please forgive any newbie questions.

i am running motion 2 from the “final cut studio” package.

    what i have done:

i made a particle system (based on an image) with a set number of particles moving outward in random directions at random speeds (within a range) from a central point. after a certain period of time, i activate an attractor off the edge of the screen which pulls the particles toward it. simple. no problem.

    what i want to do:

as the particles move, i would like each of them to leave a trail showing where they’ve been.

additionally, near the point where the attractor is activated, i would like to change the color of the particles (hopefully, a gradual change leading into the transition point) while leaving the previous trail the original color. i can change the color when i want to, but can’t seem to be able to make the color change gradually over time…and, yes, i tried “ramp,” but perhaps i was not using it correctly…?

any suggestions on how i might approach this?

any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

The only thing I see is to use an emitter for every “branch” and duplicate it with different emitting angles.
