  • Parodies and covers of commercially available music?

    1. Do you need to seek permission to parody a commercially available song if the parody will be played on a monetized Youtube video?
    2. Does the original author of the song receive royalties? If so, is this negotiated or is there some standard amount?
    3. What about doing a cover of a commercially available song? Do you need to seek permission and pay royalties if planning to do a cover?

    Thanks.
