So basically I have a tiny map of the solar system including the sun, the earth, the moon and mars.

I have two null objects directing the paths of the earth and mars around the sun (the sun stays still). One is Null Earth (controls the earth), and one is Null Mars. I wanted earth and mars to travel at different speeds. That is why I set up two different nulls.

I have another null object that follows the path of the earth, and that null controls the moons orbit around the earth.

So my question is, how do I parent all of these Null objects to a master null? I want to try some camera movement like dollies and rotations of this little solar system I set up.

I should mention I’m moving 2-d .psd files through 3-d space. nothing complicated, I’m still learning the basics.

you can just parent Mars Null and Earth Null to a new null … is that what you mean?

Well, you should have the earth and mars orbiting the sun. In order to accomplish this you should have 2 nulls at the center of the sun that you parent the planets to. You can then rotate the nulls to make the planets orbit.

You should also use the same technique to make the moon orbit the earth. One null at the center of the earth, parent that null to the earth layer then parent the moon to the ‘earth’ null and rotate it to make the moon orbit.

With this setup all you would need to do is parent the 2 nulls at the center of the sun to the sun itself, which would allow you to move the sun and all the planets/moons/whatever would follow.

If all of this parenting has you a little confused I can try to put together a simple .aep tomorrow for you. Let me know how it goes!
