    Hi,

I have a parent object that I want to mask. The problem is when I mask it the child object is not masked. Is there a way to add the child to the mask of its parent?

    Thanks,

    Ross

Have you tried precomping and adding the mask in the Precomp ?

Precomping is creating a new comp, dropping existing footage into that comp, and then bringing that comp into the existing comp….this can be acheived easily by selecting layer(s) and going to the layer menu and selecting precompose. The advantage is that you can make changes in the precomp, and still make changes to the precomp as a layer….

This is pretty basic AE stuff….not to be rude, but I would suggest reading the manual, as this type of stuff is well explained…and the manual will help you get the most out of the program.
