    hi,

new to the panasonic codec/p2. The cinematography team is shooting 1080/25p to be edited on a 25p timeline, using a firestore drive.
The shooting schedule has shifted, precluding us testing the footage.

do I just use the DVCPRO 1080/50i sequence settings?

any issues whan copying from this drive to another to ship to an editor?

I’m wanting to import directly from files copied from the firestore – has anybody had any issues getting the p2 import option to work with this setup?
the cine team rang me and they’re using FCP 5.0.1 on a laptop on location and can’t get the clips to import properly to FCP… I’m on 5.0.4 here at the studio – which i believe is better?

are there any issues or tips? should we upgrade to 5.1 (I’m on a dual core 2.5/5gb ram)- any advantage?

    many, many thanks.

    Everyone should upgrade to 5.1.2….
P2 footage import is greatly improved.

thanks – will upgrade before I get the files in that case –

do you know if importing/ easy setup as 1080i has any negative consequences if editing 1080p originated footage – most documentation is ntsc specific?

the docs have been updated in the 5.1.2 release notes, and all 1080 material shot in camera is a PROGRESSIVE SEGMENTED FRAME (psf) that always plays back as interlace- so your 25p footage always plays back as 50i.

    Gary is right….
The sequence setting for 1080 25p footage is 1080 50i…
But you can set Field Dominance to none.
