I am considering the purchase of the Panasonic BT-LH1700WP field monitor for use with my HVX. I know it is considered the gold standard, but I would appreciate any comments from folks who have used one. Are there any lower cost alternatives I should be considering?

    Many thank.

I’m very happy with mine, but have had som calibration issues with image looking different from component and SDI. Haven’t really figured thisone out yet, but I think I’ve read that the HVX component might not be state of the art. (Dunno where, but this might be wrong…)

For focus, this is a totally neccesary tool. Only wish I could afford the battery pack…

The panasonic is a great field monitor and if you can afford one then by all means go ahead. If you need something cheaper then take a look at this sony. I just received mine and the picture is quite good and ample for checking focus etc but I only got it a couple of days ago so I’m still playing around with it. It has DVI, VGA, Component, S-video and composite inputs as well.
