I’d be interested in seeing which tests you’re referring to. Without any conclusive test results it’s hard to compare these though they have very similar specs:

The distinction I think you’re missing that separates the pro panny’s from the consumers are the emply card slots, they allow you insert all kinds of terminal boards, from component, hdmi/dvi, HD-SDI to dual link HD-SDI. So if you want 10bit monitoring you’re not going to be able to do that unless the HDMI allows it and previous poster mentioned that davinci doesn’t do 10bit RGB over HDMI.

Where did you read that? Is that just for the pro plasma? The VT25 series can accept 10/12 bit over HDMI. I guess you mean that DaVinci doesn’t do that. The HD-SDI board costs more than the plasma doesn’t it?

Maybe a Black Magic or AJA person can answer this if you don’t know. Would an HD-SDI to HDMI converter transmit a 10 bit signal?

I just found that right now. No offense to the BMD guys, but that’s awesome. The HD-SDI pro plasma input costs over 2 grand right?

Yes unfortunately, more than the plasma itself but you get 10bit RGB 4:4:4 monitoring and resolution support up to 2K. Comparable systems with those specs start at $10,000 and go up. I’d probably try the HDLink first before the Davio. At the start of this thread I was leaning toward doing 10bit HDMI monitoring but now I’m thinking the dual link HD-SDI may in fact be the way to go.

That concerns me a little bit if Resolve doesn’t support 10 bit RGB over HDMI, only YUV. My situation is I already own a 42″ 11th generation and now it seems I’m still debating over purchasing dual link HD-SDI or buy a new monitor for about the same price and try my luck with HDMI, it’s good that it seems to do 10 bit but the YUV issue is my only hangup if that is indeed correct. Hopefully I’ll be able to make a decision soon.

Not sure how the AJA Hi5 fits into the scenario, please advise.
