    Hello. Do MXF files have less compression than the quicktimes and/ or should i back up MXF files or merely the QT files. Thanks!

    When you import into FCP with the P2 import, it is not converting anything, it is just merging data. So, the mxf files will have the same resolution/quality as the quicktimes that are created on import.They have the resolution that was set in the camera when it was shot.

    At least that’s the delusion that i have been operating under…

    p2 folders are like tape. I always back them up digitally and optically.
