Panasonic HVX-200 Workflow
I have been following the HVX saga for some time, with high interest in purchasing a camera for indie projects and documentaries. My wife and I edit DV on a dual 2 gig G5 with FCP Studio and LaCie 500 gig FW 800 video drive. I just got the universal crossgrade to 5.1. My wife needs a laptop for presentations w/imbedded video. Is there a developing workflow using the Pana HVX-200 in 720P 24P or 60P for 24P playback (chromakey, slo-mo, miniatures work) that can involve a mobile solution using the MacBook Pro 17″? I think the fastest interface to a video HD available on the MacBook Pro is FW 800, and per Mike of HDforindies that is the limiting factor to editing DVCPRO HD or other HD codecs on the 17″. Is it practical to capture direct from the camera (FW 400?) through the Pro 17″ to an external HD (FW 800?), or do you need P2 cards, Firestore, CinePorter, etc. for file transfer? I realize that AE and Photoshop are not yet on board for Universal Binary.
Thanks to everybody over the last year + for the great forum, especially Jan and the hosts!
