Panasonic GH3 with Sennheiser MKE600 – Left channel audio only
Hi,
I’m using a Panasonic GH3 to record a voice over using a Sennheiser MKE600 with an XLR to 3.5mm cable however when I record audio it only seems to record the left channel. I have tried replacing the cable, the cable and mic record both channel fine using Audacity. The camera also records both channel fine with its built in mic, it only doesn’t when the MKE 600 is linked up. Any ideas what the problem could be.Also other than tips in editing like the DeNoiser and the HighPass effects in Premiere Pro do you have any recommendations how I could reduce white noise/fuzz in my audio whilst recording? Would buying an external recorder like Zoom H1 or a Zoom H4N in terms of audio quality?

Does the MKE 6000 record to two channels in Audacity?
Your camera input is stereo. You are using a mono mic. Your cable is not bridging the audio to both channels. You need a cable that is correctly wired to hit both channels.

Ty is right, but a voice is mono, so recording it to 1 channel is ok. You should then use the nle to send it to the correct outputs rather than record a mono signal as a dual mono one (some will wrongly call stereo)
