Panasonic AG-HVX200 and FCP via firewire

following the instructions in the camera manual – turning off thumbnail display, connecting in order, etc…

FCP 6.0.5 on a mac mini (used only for file transfers like this). This set up works fine with USB, but FCP will not recognize the camera via firewire.

Any ideas or experiences?

IN the HVX main menu area, go to 9. OTHER OPTIONS. IN there you should see 1394-something (don’t have the camera with me now). You need to set the camera to 1394 DEVICE.

Connect the camera to the computer via firewire.

Then press the MODE button to get to thumbnail mode. Then press and hold the MODE button again for 3-5 seconds, then a black screen should come up and say 1394 DEVICE DISCONNECT, then soon say 1392 DEVICE CONNECT.
