  • Panasonic 4k HC X1000 Manual Iris Automatically Adjusts to Backlight

I’ve purchased the Panasonic HC X1000 a little while back and have now noticed an issue with the manual iris. I use manual options all the time, but have noticed on my last shoot that when I filmed the subject in front of a window, the iris — in manual – adjusted itself to the backlight. I could not give proper exposure to the subject. Even adjusting the gain didn’t help. the camera would just adjust to that. When I panned to the side, and the window wasn’t in center frame, or near center, the iris would automatically open up. Pan back, however, it adjusts itself. Is there an option on this camera where I can be FULLY manual? I have looked all around and have read nothing that would help me.

If this is happening then either gain or shutter speed have been left in “Auto”, in other words, the camera is not,in fact, in full manual mode.
