Pan and Scan Feature
Posted by Wayne M. on November 30, 2005 at 7:34 pmI can’t seem to figure out how to use this feature. I know what it’s used for, resizing an image to it’s original resolution regardless of Avid’s 720X480 default.

November 30, 2005 at 9:58 pmApply the effect to a clip of video or another still image that is set for the length you want your pan and zoom to occupy. In the effect editor click on the Load Image Button which is to the left of the name of the effect at the top of the effect editor window. This will take you to a directory that you can navigate through to find the image you want to use. Choose the image and click open. You now have the image in the place where your video clip or other still used to be. From there have fun with the settings of the effect.
You use to be limited to an image with a resolution of 4000×4000 or less, not sure if that is still true. The bigger the image the bigger the hit on memory usage. A large file could crash the program.

November 30, 2005 at 11:17 pmDon’t confuse Pan & Scan with Pan & Zoom. Pan & Scan is to convert video aspect ratios from on to another in a quick and easy interface. It is not meant for files that have greater than video resolution.
