Pan and Crop – Unable to Move PIP Where I Want
Dear Friends,
I am trying to create a PIP and I have a problem.
I opened up the pan and crop, and am able to size my insert to the size I want.
However I am unable to move it to where I want in the larger picture.
The best way I can explain it is, imagine my large picture is 10units wide.
I’m trying to move the insert to the bottom right corner, or any of the other corners. However I seem to be able to move the smaller picture only in the centre, for about 6 units of movement. Beyond that, the edge of my insert actually disappears. It’s as if the pan and crop only recognises part of the screen as available for movement.
Yikes… am I making myself clear?

Put the graphic on it’s own track, size it in the center, and use track motion (in the track controls, very left of timeline) to position it.
This should fix your problem.

That is super thanks! But any idea what the initial problem was?
Also, it seems that following your method means that if I want a PIP in a different location, i have to have the small pic on yet a new timeline. Would that be correct?

The initial problem has to do with the limits of pan crop in non-matching aspect ratios.

Yes, kinda, not a new timeline, it must be on a new track above the video it will appear in.
