PAL Export from FCP – Is this a right way?
I have to submit my short film to screen in one of the film festival in Europe. They asked me to submit DVD in PAL format.
This is how I did to export in PAL.
File – Export – Using Quick Time Conversion. I click options and Movie Settings Window open up. I go to size and in the dimensions field I select PAL 720 x 576 16:9 from the drop down list.
1) Is this the right way to export PAL format?
2) The option 1920 x 1080 HD in the drop down list in the export window, will this work in both PAL and NTSC DVD player?
If not, then
3) How do I export 1920 x 1080 HD resolution in PAL?
This is the first time I am exporting in PAL. That’s why this confusion for me.

It is not that simple. First thing you need to do is convert your sequence to a PAL frame rate. NTSC is 60, PAL is 50. Compressor can do this for free or Nattress Standard Conversion can do it for $99.(https://www.nattress.com/?q=Standards%20)

you don’t say what your current format is.
kind of hard to advise without knowing that.if you are 25fps, then yes your method would work
in fact you could also just useFCPs “Share” function and make the DVD direct from your timelineother frame rates make things trickier
you really are best off exporting a quicktime movie, same settings, self contained.
then you need to do a standards conversion on that file.
as steve said the 2 simplest choices are Compressor or Nattressi’m a bit old-school when it comes to exports etc, and most of the time i tend to export a Quicktime movie, same settings, from FCP,
then i do any conversions in Compressor, or even Quicktime for simple one-offs.
this method does not tie up FCP with needless conversions.Share will not tie up FCP, either.
