    Hey Guys,

I actually posted this originally in the Sony DV forum but never got an answer so thought one of you guys could clue me in.

my client has some dv tapes recorded in PAL. She needs DVDs of them. I have a SONY M15U deck that I know will handle the tapes and what I planned to do was ingest them into FCP 6, place them into NTSC sequences, render them out and then encode for NTSC DVD.

But before I explain this to my client, is there a way (or a DVD recorder deck but not too expensive), that I could NTSC DVD-R record the tapes directly from the M15U? Or do I need some convertor box of sorts. I just hate to bill my client edit suite time (even discounted) to achieve this problem. If there’s a more economical alternative, I’d like to present it.

Again, I know this isn’t really an FCP question, but since I plan to use FCP unless there is an alternative, I figure one of you guys have had to deal with this scenario at least once. Thanks!

    Rick

depending on the purpose of the DVD’s, it might be an option just to create PAL DVD’s.
They play in any conputer, but you have to buy a PAL DVD player (and perhaps monitor) to display them elsewhere.

If they’re just viewing copies, that’ll be my option.
