  • PAL DV camera plays back NTSC but can’t capture

Posted by Lanzi on September 4, 2006 at 3:07 pm

I have a 6 minute NTSC DVCAM footage on tape. Want to capture it onto hard drive.

Have a PD170 PAL version. The camera does playback the footage correctly and also can feed the A-V signal onto a TV monitor via A-V cables.

When trying to capture same footage with FCP 4 (all capture presets changed to NTSC DVPRO (4:3), the capure & log preview window shows he coloured bars and ‘Preview has been disabled’.I see no video but get audio. I can control the camera though via FCP.

Granted the camera is PAL and I am working with NTSC footage, but the camera does play it back.

Are my settings wrong or it ont be possible at all to caputre with the PAL camera?

    Thank you.

End your confusion, that’s how Sony does it!

    Cheers
