I’m having a problem with Motion, no response on the Motion forum, maybe someone can answer this. It would take about 30 seconds for someone to confirm or deny this bug.

    In Motion.

    1. Place a video into the comp.
    2. Select new camera.
    3. Make 3D
    4. Rotate the view so that you can see behind the video.
    5. Use the paint brush and paint a scribble.
    6. Move the scribble in 3 dimensions so that it is clearly behind the video.
    7. Rotate the view so that the video covers up the scribble.
    8. Make sure the opacity of the video is 100%.
    9. Make sure the opacity of the layer is 100%, and blend modes are all “normal”.

Can you see the scribble through the video?

I do, and it doesn’t make any sense to me.

Please, I beg anyone. Please tell me if you repeat this problem, or if it is just me.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

Just had a quick play in Motion to try and replicate this….and I’m afraid I could not.

    I’m running Motion 3.0.2

Just dumped a .mov in, added a camera and scribbled behind it – and I can’t see the scribble through the video…

    Sorry!

Thanks for doing it. This is making me completely crazy.

My opacity is set to 100%. Blend modes are normal.

If anyone has any idea why I see paint and particle emitters through a video, please let me know.

What I was thinking is that the video had an alpha. You didn’t export from FCP as something other than dv did you by any chance?

No alpha channel. It’s a bug in the software I fear. Here are two examples, the only difference being layer order.
