  • paint effect for removing parts of footage?

    Hi there,

I have a (complex) animation of a rotating double helix. I need to remove one helix for the whole duration of the footage. What is the easiest way to do this? Is there a way to use the eraser and the paint effect?

It seems as if the paint effect erases pixels for the whole length of the layer (resulting in losing the pixels “concealed” by the helix i have to remove). Is there a way to keyframe the use of the eraser and to start with the complete fresh image every new frame? Am i forgetting something or should i ditch the paint effect for this job and try something else?

    thanks

    simon

I don’t use paint much. I use vector paint instead, since it allows you to paint one frame at a time.

You may want to animate mask shapes where the “there” meets the “not there”. Otherwise the edge of your paint could look jittery at those boundaries.
