  • Page insert doesn’t seem to work right…

Posted by Sean Lloyd on September 28, 2023 at 2:57 am

    Hi,

I’m trying to reformat by book, but when I try to insert a page it connects to the following page as two pages facing each other, but the page I was trying to connect it too is left by itself as a single page. I’ve tried a bunch of things and nothing seems to work.

    Any ideas?

The photos below show the progression. The first is before. The 3rd shot is where it placed it and the forth shot is the page I was trying to attach to now by itself.

    Thanks…

    Hi Sean, I’m an InDesign expert and am here to assist you… please take the following steps;

    1. on your InDesign software click on the pages panel (by your top right of your desktop).

    2. Using the Type tool, click to place the insertion point where you want the break to occur.

    3. Choose Type > Insert Break Character, and then choose page break.

this will easily move the text to the next page (creating blank page) without messing up your entire document arrangement.

    hope this helps THANKS

    Hi Sarah,

Thanks so much for responding to my question. I tried what you suggested several times, but it’s still not working. After what you mentioned I went to layout/ pages/insert page and still the page is left by itself.

I had a similar issue before, but I was able to work around it by creating a new page at the bottom of the document and then moving it, but that is no longer working.

I will try to redo everything from the point where I am resizing the document and see if that helps anything.

If you have any other suggestions let me know, and thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it..

PS If I open a new document with facing pages and do an insert it works fine, so it must likely be something in my book layout that’s causing the problem…

Hi Sean, thanks for the feedback

did you add and link the text fame after adding a new page at the last newly created?

    Hi Sarah.

Thanks so much. I actually think that may have done it. I don’t think I was selecting both sides of the layout like it looks like you did in your video.

I really appreciate it and sorry for the late reply, I’ve been working on other parts of my project and just checked in here tonight.

    Thanks, again!

I think I may have been wrong. Tried it today and it still doesn’t work.

Just as an update for anyone unfortuate enough to have to have been following this…it works until I use the liquid page rule and scale to resize the whole book, then when I try to insert a page it doesn’t work.

Thanks again for the replies on this thread…
