    Greetings All,

This is my first post in the forum, so here goes….

We made the plunge and purchased a Pansonic HVX-200 and related P2 paraphanalia.

We’ve not used HD and/or P2 before, but I’ve picked up some info here and there.

Does anyone have a “latest” workflow for P2 in MCA? We’re running MCA v2.2.7 on a xw8200 speced out at the original MCA requisites, apart from regular driver updates.

I recall some discussion in other forums surrounding the need for an additional firewire card since we do not have the HD expansion card in our DNA, and don’t plan to.

Also, will I be able to view uncompressed HD with my existing system if I don’t have the HD expansion card?

Any advice, guidance, links that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your consideration,

    Tim Scarpino

ps…I’m going to crosspost this in the P2 forum as well.

First, NO, you can’t do HD without the DNx board. As for the P2 workflow there are several. Here are two, you can import the footage directly from the camera, or put the footage on a seperate hard drive(a good idea) when you open the folder named content you will see five folders, Two of them are called ‘Audio’ and ‘Video’. Copy the contents of these two folders to you Avid MediaFiles/mxf/1 folder on your root capture drive. when you restart Avid create a new project, avid will scan the new media and you import it to your bin.
