P2 to ProRes Proxy – Cam A, Yes. Cam B & C, No?
While binning a project, I noticed that Camera’s B and C P2 files were transcoding to DVCPRO HD, even after I selected ProRes Proxy in the pull down.
Camera A P2 files had no problem converting to Proxy.
Any ideas what might be overwriting my setting?

DVCPRO HD P2 only comes in as DVCPRO HD. FCP doesn’t convert it to anything. It rewraps the MXF as QT. no transcoding. Only AVCINTRA P2 has the option for transcoding. Go into the Log and Transfer prefs and you’ll see that.
So two of your cameras shoot DVCPRO HD, and the third shoots AVCINTRA

Thanks for clarifying that. So are my options then converting the files outside of FCP to Proxy?
I want to make sure I’ll be able to link back to the orignal HD QuickTimes.

Alright, Looks like a quick trip though Adobe Media Encoder to ProRes Proxy will be the way to go. Relinking to DVCPRO HD files seems to be good after a few tests.

Why do that? DVCPRO HD is very light. About as light as Proxy is, no?
