P2 to DVD or IPOD in FCP
Hello,
I just cut a small video that I shot with my HVX200 and imported into FCP via P2 cards.
My first question is, when importing footage from P2 cards does FCP import the full resolution of those clips when choosing the import P2 command in the file menu OR do I have to online the footage. (analyse movie command tells me that I currently have DVCPRO HD720p60 at most quality at 59.94fps)
Second question, if I don’t have to online and uprez the footage what is the recommended program / codec to compress the footage to be burned to DVD and also possibly to an IPOD)

Full quality my friend…full quality. All FCP does is take the original MXF files and put a Quicktime Wrapper on them so that it can work with the files. No loss of quality.

I use the High Quality 2-pass setting in Compressor for DVD burning. Haven’t had to do an iPod version, so someone else will have to help you with that.

For iPod, go to EXPORT -> USING QUICKTIME CONVERSION.
Change the format to “iPod.”
That’s, uhm…pretty much all you can do! There are no options. Just export.
