    Hi all. New poster here.

The company I work for is planning on renting on a Panasonic P2 camcorder for some Hi-Def work. I know it records DVCPRO 25/50/HD. My co-worker is under the impression that if you record to the P2 cards, the video is uncompressed (and that it only compresses to 25/50/HD if you record to tape).

But in my thinking, the only way to get uncompressed HD out of a camcorder would for it to have an SDI output, right? P2 just doesn’t have the capacity or bandwidth to record uncompressed HD, right?

    Help me out! 🙂

    your co-worker is wrong

the P2 format is compressed as DVCPROHD (HD), DVCPRO (DV50 /25) or plain old DV.

the tape format in the HVX200 is DV only – nothing else.
