I’ve installed the trial version of Media 100 Suite and tried to import P2 footage. I get the “error” message that “Codec Not Installed ‘dvhp’. I’ve been looking for it but have had no luck. Please help with thanks in advance!

Thanks Eric. It helps but, the files I am trying to import are .MXF. I see the thumbnail’s when I import but unable to actually import. Di I have to buy the codec (https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/MXFImport_Mac.asp) in order to accomplish this?

    Joe,

Specifically, what flavor of P2 are you importing? DVCProHD, AVC-I, raster? Frame rate?

Hi Jim and thanks for chiming in. I do not know the flavor or frame rate. I received a HD from a client with complete folders copies over. The extension is .MXF if that helps. Sorry for being naive.

    Joe,

Sounds like you don’t have the QT components installed for DVCProHD. If you go to :

    https://www.panasonic.sixbullets.net/

and look about half way down the page he has links to downloading the installers from Panasonic. Its pretty straightforward, but the Panasonic site is a bit confusing so this guy has just made it a bit more friendly.

Thanks for all your help Jim. The download page is confusing. Sorry yet again but do I need to go to

    https://eww.pass.panasonic.co.jp/download/downloadtop.html

    to download what I need?

Is the download I need within the following?

    Panasonic AVC-Intra
AVC-Intra100 to DPX converter for Mac
This application is only available for Intel Macs, and requires the latest version of the AVC-Intra decoder (v1.2) and P2CMS. This is not lightweight, Panasonic recommends a quad-core Mac. It is not stable on OS X 10.5.1, and there are some audio preview issues in FCP.

    Joe,

You don’t need to download the AVC Intra components for this.

I think (its been a long time) if you download and install the Panasonic P2CMS (content management software-its their cataloging system for P2 media) it automatically installs the DVCProHD components you need. I believe their site now issues you a password for download when you supply an e-mail, but its pretty quick.

    P2CMS is available at: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/p2cms_dl_mace.htm

I really appreciate all your help Jim. I installed the link you provided and still no luck. I tried several video input options but to no avail. I’m stumped ;-p

    Joe,

look in your Quicktime folder(library->quicktime->) and see if you have a PanasonicDVCProHDCodec.Component and MXfImporter.component installed there. These should both be installed when you install P2CMS. If you have a Final Cut system these components are installed there too when you install FCP 😉

To confirm are you bringing in the P2 media thru Import-> Panasonic P2 in Media 100.
