  • P2 import to FCP – where are my missing bits?

    Hi,

I have been playing with the HVX202 (as it’s called in my neck of the woods) and after importing direct from the P2 cards via firewire into FCP I noticed on my 23″ Cinema display that the pictures were a little noisy – in a compressed sort of way… I used the FCP DVCPROHD preset, and could not find any fault with my settings, so I spoke to Panasonic about this and I was told to look at the data rate of my clip in the bin – 14.1 mb/s – which I was of course shocked by… So where has the rest of the data gone?

I have heard other comments about the HVX footage looking a bit noisy – and I am assuming this is why. From 100 mb/s to 14.1 mb/s – AGH! How can Apple have the DVCPROHD data rate set so low???

Am I missing something? Any answers? Any solutions?

    Chris

    100 megabits ~= 14.1 megaBytes
