p2 card E-series life cycle
Hi
I have a question for Jan Crittenden Livingston
Can you explain to us how the 5 year life cycle work ?
as
1. the card has a date it was manufactured and from this day it count
5 years and then it dies
2. it count the number of format you do on the card and after a
number that was set it dies
3. it look on the date of the first formatand
after 5 years it diesor tell as how this works as i have read that at the end the card will show a marker on the camera that will say that it will die soon
so how this system work ?update as

I believe the life cycle is based on recording to the cardonce a day to 100% for 5 years. That would mean 365 x 7 = 2555 days of recording. If you only use the card once a week you could expect 49 years of service 🙂 My sense is for most users these cards will last longer than you will need them. Who knows what storage technology will be announced next week? I believe the cards post a warning in the viewfinder as they approach their end-of-days.
