Overwriting
I will preface this tread with a caveat about my skills with Avid. I am very new and am just learning the software. I am producing some interviews with outreach organizations for rape victims in my city to air as viral videos. The interviews are really boring and I want to show stock footage of the outreach group’s facilities, them working with people and the like while they are talking. I have figured out how to put the sequence of the stock footage over the interviewees talking but have lost their audio. I want to get rid of the audio on the stock footage and keep their voices. Please help! I am sure there is a very easy resolution to this problem. Thank you!!!

First off, welcome! Feel free to ask as many questions as you need!
Make sure the correct tracks are activated in the timeline. Active tracks are a color (mine are green, but it depends on how you’ve customized your settings). To deactivate a track, click on the V1, A1, A2, etc., and the track will ‘turn off’. To edit B roll over an interview, click on A1 and / or A2, and overwrite the interview with your B roll.

I think so. I am headed into our “Avid” room to try it out. I will get back to you if I get it to work. I appoligize for such a basic question. I got saddled with this task from the big boss to save some money and have never edited anything or had any training! Yikes! Thank you!!
